Rasmusson Boise Idaho Mission - March - August 2025

 

 

Before we retired to Reno, we celebrated high school graduations with our
friends in the month of May. Each senior is a first-generation high school 
graduate. Their families are extremely proud of their accomplishment—to go
from raising your children in a refugee camp to your children receiving a high
school diploma causes a happiness that is nigh overwhelming. And these 
graduates are not stopping at that. Prince (on the left of his family) is 

 

On Memorial Day we enlisted the help of our son-in-law and daughter, and 
their family, to help set up a garden for one of our friends. A kind 
acquaintance of theirs gave gardening soil. The friend’s children pitched in to 
cut the weeds back and haul the soil to the planting spot.

 

 

Elder Rasmusson captured this candid scene of Sister Rasmusson reading a 
story to Success, a 3-year-old girl who has spinal bifida. As they sat in the 
foyer of our church building waiting for Success’s dad to finish his interview 
to receive the Melchizedek priesthood, Marianne was unaware under what 
painting she was sitting, and who she was modeling.  

Swimming is a brand-new experience for many African refugees. Many of 
them are afraid of the water because they have been warned that they will 
drown in it. Yet, seeing those who know how to swim having a great time, 
they conquer their fear and are soon having fun. (Thanks to the Mauses for 
opening their pool!)
Of all the swimming evenings, Sister Rasmusson had to dive in the pool only 
once—and with her clothes on—to urgently help a struggling child. And 
while wet, why not enjoy the water slide? 

Generous donations made this gospel art giveaway a success. As we 
subsequently visited the homes of members, we noticed several artworks 
depicting the Savior and the gospel on their walls and tables.

 

 

 

 Occasionally, we had district outings on preparation day such as picnics, 
 bowling, work-up baseball. This photo is of our district at our Topgolf
